10 tips for spiritual and intuitive business owners

Starting a spiritual/intuitive business can be an exciting and equally daunting thing. You have taken the classes, read the books, honed your intuitive abilities, but what next? In this blog post, I give you some tips to get started.

The most important thing to consider whilst establishing your spiritual or intuitive business (and throughout the coming years of its growth) is ALIGNMENT. Does this business align with your values and soul’s purpose? An aligned business will flourish; a misaligned business will not. Ensure that alignment is included in your personal definition of success.

  1. Define Your ‘Why’

Why do you want to start this business? Maybe it is to have more time freedom, maybe you are feeling the call to be of service. Maybe you have many ‘whys’ (which is completely normal!) Getting clear on these now will help you build an aligned business AND will help keep you on track when you bump up against obstacles along the way.

2. Align Your Business with Your Values

What are your values? Knowing what your core values are is going to help you build a business that is in alignment to these. For example, if you identify one of your core values to be flexibility, but you are planning to work 1:1 with people for 8 hours per day 6 days per week, the business will be misaligned.

It can be a worthwhile exercise to revisit your values at least once a year when you review your business. Values can change over time and that is completely normal too.

3. Prioritize Your Impact Over Income

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to have an abundantly profitable business. Running a business can in fact be fantastic way of facing your money wounds and money trauma head on, as it will magnify this. However, the focus of a spiritual or intuitive business should always be the positive impact your business can have on your community and the world as a whole, not profit margins.

4. Set Aligned Goals

Goals are important as a motivating force in business, but it is important that these goals are actually yours. For example, your first income goal may initially be to replace your employed salary. Spending a small amount of time online you may see a plethora of business coaches talk about 6 figure months, 8 figure years and get overwhelmed and feel disheartened.

Work towards your own goals and ignore the noise. Ensure that in your goal setting you do not just focus on the financial. For example, one of your goals may be to have a Friday completely offline for time with your family, or it may be that you want to swim every morning before you start work. Set goals that lead to personal satisfaction and a holistic sense of fulfilment.

5. Study Business

You can be an amazing Reiki practitioner, Tarot Reader, Akashic Records Practitioner AND have no idea when it comes to running a business. It does not mean that you are not meant to run your own business, just that you might need to learn how. That is completely ok. If you have no idea about marketing for example, learn about it. It is no reflection of your ability to provide your service to your clients.

I work with some amazing Akashic Records Practitioners in my Akashic Records Practitioner Mentorship programme who just need a guiding hand on getting started. If you feel like some additional support would be helpful, find yourself a business coach or mentor who has been where you want to go and who you feel could support your journey.

6. Find Your Community

It can be a lonely endeavour to set out on your journey as a business owner, if you do not have people around you who are doing the same. This does not mean you have to ditch all your ‘employed friend.’ It just means that by surrounding yourself with individuals who can support your vision and provide guidance along the way.

7. It Is Ok to Work Your Aligned Business as a Side Hustle

Not everyone wants to be solely responsible for their own income and that is ok. Being a business owner can be tough, and it will absolutely bring up any wounding you have around money, self-worth, fear of judgment amongst other issues. If you want to offer your aligned business services on a Saturday only while working a 9-5, Monday through Friday, that is completely ok. It does not make you and your services ‘less than’ people who are running their aligned businesses full time. It is completely a personal choice.

8. Focus on Your Authenticity Over Chasing Metrics

Most spiritual and intuitive business owners will employ some form of social media in their marketing strategy (although if that is not a method you choose to use, that is fine too!). Social media is designed to keep you ‘feeding’ the platforms with your energy and attention and it is easy as a business owner to get sucked into metrics such as followers, likes and comments.

As a business owner it is essential to be cognisant of what is/is not working in your marketing, without becoming obsessive about it. You will never understand the algorithms and how they work, so focus instead in showing up authentically. People will feel called to work with you only if you are actually being you, not presenting a version you think the algorithm wants.

In the Age of AI and BOTS, people want human to human interaction. They want to get to know YOU as you truly are.

9. Measure Your Success Holistically

Reflect upon your own definition of success and evaluate accordingly. Did you have some extra time off this week to spend with your family? Success! Did you impact the lives of your clients this week? Success! Did you receive an email from someone enquiring about your services? Success! Do not just focus on income and/or metrics.

And remember, celebrate every win! Too often as business owners the focus is on ‘what goal is next?’ rather than taking a moment to appreciate the win.

10. Be OK With Your Business Evolving

It is completely normal to have an idea and vision in your mind about how your business will be and then to find that by being in service, that vision changes. For example, you may be working 1:1 with clients and then come to realise over time that there are certain issues that all of these clients require assistance with. You may then feel called to create a small group programme to be able to offer your guidance to more people. This is part of the evolution of your aligned business, so try to flow with it.

Make sure that you regularly revisit your 'why' and make adjustments as and when they are needed to ensure your path remains aligned with your true self.

IN SUMMARY

These tips are designed to help you build an aligned business that is deeply gratifying and spiritually enriching for you. Running a spiritual/intuitive business is an amazing adventure for those who feel called to do so but as always, be gentle and compassionate with yourself along the way. Slow and steady often wins the race.
