What are past life vows?

 For those of you who are new to this topic, my former blog post on Soul Contracts will provide you with some foundational information that is required to understand this topic. You can read that blog post here.

‘Past life vows’ are vows made in previous incarnations which are still in place and therefore energetically affecting the current incarnation. There are many different types of past life vows that come up in the Akashic Records so the intention with this blog post is to cover some of the main vows that I have come across in my work as an Akashic Records Teacher and Practitioner.

WHAT ARE THE TWO TYPES OF PAST LIFE VOWS THAT COME UP IN THE AKASHIC RECORDSS?

In very general terms, the two types of past life vows that can show up in the Akashic Records, are the ‘forever vows’ and the ‘never vows.’ These can then further be subdivided into different types of vows, some of which I will go into later in this post.

Before we get into those, let us further look at why it is important to know if you are affected by past life vows in this lifetime.

WHY DO PAST LIFE VOWS STILL AFFECT US IN THE CURRENT LIFETIME?

From the perspective of the Akashic Records all lives are happening simultaneously. I know our human brain has resistance to this idea, as we like linear progression, but the Akashic Records are not restricted or subject to the dimension of time. When we connect to the Akasha (a.k.a the Akashic Field or the Quantum Field) we understand that what an incarnation is, is a projection of our consciousness into a specific time and location, for the duration of the lifetime.

When we take these vows there is an energetic reverberation on our Light Grid, on all seven energy bodies and on the different dimensional planes. There is an aspect of ‘you’ on each of these dimensional planes and every action, thought and emotion experienced have counterparts across multiple dimensions.

A vow made in one lifetime (i.e. one projection of consciousness into a specific lifetime) will therefore make an imprint on the Light Grid that will be there until it is released. This means that for any other incarnation (i.e. a different projection of consciousness) the information and stagnation associated with it will be present and affect the current lifetime.

HOW DO PAST LIFE VOWS AFFECT US IN THE CURRENT LIFETIME?

This energetic stagnation that is caused by these past life vows is something that we can feel and experience, but not necessarily have a conscious understanding as to what it is. This can affect you on the physical, mental and/or emotional level (s) and impact your daily life. We are constantly under the influence of energetic reverberations from different dimensions which then has a knock-on effect in our physical reality.

TYPES OF PAST LIFE VOWS THAT COME UP IN THE AKASHIC RECORDS

1. The Vow of Poverty

This is undoubtedly one of the most common past life vows I see, especially amongst spiritual people. Using the above classification system, this is a ‘never vow’ and it is usually along the lines of ‘I will never have access to material wealth and abundance.’ This vow is usually made in a lifetime where the individual has taken a vow of renunciation to enter a specific religious order and taken a Vow of Poverty. This vow can also show up when people have misused financial wealth in a previous incarnation.

For most people in this incarnation, the Vow of Poverty is no longer relevant or needed, and they are trying to achieve a balance between physical, material existence and spiritual expansion and the soul’s evolution.

2. A Vow of Attachment

‌There are many different types of Vows of Attachment, and these tend to be in the ‘forever’ vow category. For example, “I vow to love you forever’ can be carried throughout lifetimes, whether or not the soul to whom you made the vow chooses to incarnate or not.

If that soul does choose to incarnate at the same time, when you meet that individual there will be an energetic activation within both Light Grids to essentially ‘turn on’ the terms of the Soul Contract and the vow.

This can be a very confusing time, especially if you are in an existing relationship with someone else, but you can get a much better understanding of the nature of the Soul Contract and the vow through your Akashic Records. It may even be time to use the Akashic Records to clear out the energetic stagnation that is associated with this vow, if it has run its course.

3. A Vow to Never Love Another

Similar to 2 above, this is a vow made when in relationship with someone except this time, the declaration is that “I vow to never love anybody else.” As much as this may be true for one lifetime, if you have made this type of vow and moved onto another incarnation you may find it extremely difficult to open up to receive love and have a romantic relationship.

4. A Vow of Chastity

Again, this is a vow I see with a lot of people within the spiritual community who have experienced a lifetime of renunciation. Whilst this vow may have been appropriate and necessary in that particular lifetime, when it comes to now being in a different lifetime it can be very difficult for the individual to tune into their sexual energy, that creative life force. It can also affect the individual’s ability to give or receive (in any form, sexual or otherwise).

5. A Vow to a Deity/Being

This is another forever vow and usually takes the form of “I vow to work with you (or on your behalf) forever.” There are a number of reasons why this can be problematic. Firstly, the individual may have unknowingly made a vow to a Deity or a Being who is a part of the devolutionary stream (or who is no longer part of the evolutionary stream).

This can hinder your spiritual development for a number of reason but especially it can hinder your ability to connect to other higher dimensional energies and beings (from the evolutionary stream) that are here to work with you.

6. A Vow to not use your intuition, psychic gits and abilities

This vow is common amongst individuals who have experienced persecution in previous lifetimes for using their gifts and abilities, which we refer to as ‘Witch Wounding’ in the Akashic Records. Individuals would make this vow as a way to save themselves and/or their families from persecution.

Of course, how this affects you in the current lifetime is knowing that there are these underlying gifts and skills and intuitive abilities but not being able to tap into them. regardless of how many different methods and practices that you have tried.

HOW DO YOU RELEASE THE ENERGETIC STAGNATION CAUSED BY PAST LIFE VOWS?

You are going to be made aware of any areas of energetic stagnation you have throughout your lifetime. Life itself is your best spiritual teacher.

One lifetime, even if we live for 100 years, is such a short period of time when you start to consider lifetimes from the objective, soul level perspective that the Akashic Records has to offer.

By working with your Akashic Records you can not only understand the impact of those other incarnations on your current lifetime, but you can also clear out any energetic stagnation associated with them to move forward in your expansion and evolution.
